What Type Soil Does Courgette Like

Planting Instructions

Buy young courgettes at the garden centre in late spring, or sow courgette seeds indoors in April or May, in pots of peat-free, multi-purpose compost. Pot on seedlings when they're big enough to handle, and plant the young plants outside when all risk of frost has passed

Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo), or courgettes, are a summer squash plant that produces an abundant crop.Examples of good companion plants to grow well with zucchini plants include: Beans, Borage, Dill, Garlic, Marigolds, Mint, Nasturtiums, Oregano.

Harvest Time

Cut the courgette when it reaches a length of 15 to 20 cm with a sharp knife at the stem. As mentioned above, harvesting young fruits encourages flower.
